I lost my score, what should I do?
Your high score is stored locally on your device (localStorage). It can be lost in these cases:
- You uninstalled and reinstalled the app
- You factory-reset the device
- You used "Clear app data"
If you joined the global leaderboard, your nickname and score remain there. Local scores cannot be recovered.
How can I disable ads?
There is currently no ad-free (premium) version of the app. Banner ads only appear on the main menu — never during gameplay. Interstitial ads appear occasionally and can be skipped. Rewarded video ads are completely optional — they only play if you tap "Continue".
Why does my leaderboard rank keep changing?
The global leaderboard pulls data from players worldwide; as new players post higher scores, your ranking shifts. The weekly leaderboard resets every Monday.
How do I unlock new planes?
Planes unlock at Fibonacci score thresholds in the game: 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610. Each threshold unlocks a new plane that you can pick from the main-menu carousel.
How do I change my nickname?
On the leaderboard screen, tap the pencil (✎) icon next to your name to rename. The new nickname applies from your next score submission.
How do I delete my account and data?
Uninstalling the app deletes local data. To delete your nickname and score from our servers, follow the steps on the Data Deletion page.
The game crashes or freezes — what should I do?
Try the following first:
- Force-close the app and reopen it
- Restart your device
- Install the latest update from Google Play Store
- Make sure you have at least 100 MB free storage
If the issue persists, email us with your device model, Android version and when the crash occurred.
Can I play offline?
Yes. Single-player mode works fully offline. Only the global leaderboard and ads require an internet connection.
What permissions does the app require?
Paper Plane requires only minimal permissions:
- Internet: for the leaderboard and ads
- Advertising ID (AAID): for AdMob (Android 13+ automatic)
No location, contacts, camera, microphone, storage or other sensitive permissions are requested.
